Suddenly Saved from Death - Psalm 124

 "Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth." (Ps 124)   In this case, blessing the Lord is not a dry religious ritual. It is as common sense as thanking someone who grabs your hand when you are about to fall off a cliff. We will forever have good reason to bless The Lord. He has saved us from the jaws of death. 

All the pictures in this psalm show what Israel has been saved from—sudden calamities like drowning or being devoured by an animal or trapped. The deliverance is sudden, as well. One moment you are snared; the next you are free to fly.  May you be like the bird who is free from every snare of the enemy and able to freely fly into the great plans God has for your life.  

The God Who Fights For Us - Psalm 124

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us then they would have swallowed us alive. (Ps 124) If anyone knew what it was like when "men rose up against us" it was David.  

 Davids life often hung on by what looks like a very small thread.   Goliath, Saul and Absalom were some of these enemies who wanted nothing more than to see David dead.  Despite all this, David had a weapon that could not be overcome: God was on his side. 

May you be encouraged through this podcast to know the amazing truth that  "He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8)

The Eyes of a Servant - Psalm 123

   This short and sweet Psalm calls us to look to God in total dependence.  We are called to seek God both corporately and individually as indicated by the maid (singular) and the servants (plural).   We look to His hand that not only gives direction but also is the place we see the scars He bore in love for us.  Be encouraged to keep looking to The Master with hopeful expectation.  As Jehoshaphat said  "We don't know what to do but our eyes are on you." (2 Chron 20:12)

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem - Psalm 122

  After an inspiring worship service in 1844, Willem Ten Boom started a weekly prayer service to pray for the Jewish people and the peace of Jerusalem. His son Casper continued the tradition of prayer with his own family. These prayer meetings continued for 100 years-until February 28, 1944, when Nazi soldiers arrested Casper and his entire family for hiding Jews.   The Ten Boom family was prepared years in advance for their powerful calling as they kept faithfully praying for God's purposes for Jerusalem.

  This call to pray for the peace of Jerusalem is deeply connected to the prayer Yeshua taught his disciples to pray "Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven".   Our prayers play a vital role in the process of God establishing His home on earth.   Keep praying!  

Jerusalem - The Epicenter of Joy! - Psalm 122

This exuberant Psalm speaks of the gladness of seeking God together.   We encourage all of you to press through the difficulties and strains that can arise from gathering with others to worship.  As believers, corporate prayer and worship is one of our most effective weapons against the dark forces of the enemy. 

The place of seeking God together is where we touch the pleasures of overflowing joy in His presence.  Over and over again Jerusalem is spoken of as a city of joy throughout the Bible.  Listen in to hear of of the glorious things that are spoken of the city of God.  

Lift up your hands! With special guest Zac Waller

  Lifting hands during worship can be an awkward thing to do.  In this podcast we look into the many scriptures that talk about this expression of praise.  Zac shares how a spiritual breakthrough took place in his life as a teen when he was able to lift his hands in a corporate worship gathering.   May you be encouraged in this episode to praise God unashamedly and as the book of Lamentations says "lift your heart and your hands to God".  

Redeemed From All Evil - Psalm 121

This psalm makes an unbelievable claim..... "The Lord will preserve you from all evil."   

 Is this just a hyper positive statement or is it looking at our lives through the lens of faith?  Jacob, the patriarch spoke at the end of his life of the "The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil."  When we consider all the family problems that Jacob went through this is a remarkable life summary.   In this podcast we encourage you to see all your life experiences through the lens of a God who redeems.   With eyes of faith we can say with confidence that God will preserve and redeem us from all evil!

Overcoming Mountains - Psalm121

This Psalm stands out uniquely among the Psalms of Ascent.  It is the only one that begins with the title "A Psalm to Ascend" instead of "A Psalm of Ascent".  

The journey up and forward is not easy. It is this going up that takes intentionality as opposed to going down which is humanities natural bent. The prophet Hosea speaks of this and says "My people are bent on backsliding from Me." Knowing this about ourselves, that we are likely to descend or backslide, helps us to take measures to correct this tendency.  We need this Psalm to ascend!  We need faith to look to God who will help us overcome all the mountains in our way. 

Woe Lo Go! - Psalm 120

    Isaiah the prophet had a revelation of the glory of God.  This revelation brought about an acute awareness of his own sinfulness, particularly his sinful tongue.  

     He cried out "Woe is me!"  This then led to the burning coal cleansing his lips.  The seraph told Isaiah "Lo, this has touched your lips, your iniquity is taken away".  The Lord then told him to "Go".   

    The pilgrim in the Psalms of Ascent begins his journey by saying "Woe is me" as well.  It is in this place of repentance that we begin our walk with God.   May you be encouraged in this podcast to heed the message of Woe, Lo, Go.  

Distress - The First Step on the Road to Glory! - Psalm 120
